AWS Bedrock

Amazon Bedrock is AWS's fully managed service for accessing foundation models from leading AI companies through a single, unified API. Rather than managing separate integrations with multiple AI providers, Bedrock enables organizations to access and compare models from Anthropic, AI21 Labs, Cohere, Meta, Stability AI, and Amazon itself through a consistent interface within the AWS ecosystem.

The service's multi-model approach is one of its most valuable features. Organizations can switch between providers or use different models for different tasks without architectural changes to their applications. This provider flexibility reduces vendor lock-in risk and allows teams to use the best model for each specific use case.

Knowledge Bases for Amazon Bedrock provides managed RAG infrastructure, handling document ingestion, chunking, embedding, storage in vector databases, and retrieval — all as a fully managed service. This allows developers to build sophisticated RAG applications without managing the underlying infrastructure components.

AWS's existing security and compliance infrastructure applies to Bedrock, including VPC isolation, encryption at rest and in transit, CloudTrail audit logging, and IAM access controls. For organizations already using AWS, this makes Bedrock the natural path to enterprise AI with minimal additional security configuration.
